| Andrew Foley is one lucky SOB.
Andrew Foley's parents, who apparently weren't thinking straight that eighteen years, raised him to be an artist. On purpose.
His mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, and on one occasion, his 4-year-old niece have all actively helped him along what many would consider a fool-hardy career path--that of the professional freelance writer. If they ever doubted he would "make it", they never let him know that.
His wife Tiina, who he married on Devil's Night 2004 while dressed as Frankenstein's Monster, is also far more supportive of his ambitions than any rational person would be. She even talked him out of getting a real job when they could've used the money, so that nothing would interfere with his writing. She knows the difference between Boba and Django Fett, and is a bigger comics fan than Andrew is.
A new roof on Andrew's house: $6,000. Signing a copy of a book with Andrew's name on it: Priceless.
After several years toiling in relative anonymity, Andrew's first graphic novel, Speakeasy Comics' PARTING WAYS, with art by Scott Mooney and Nick Craine, was published in July, 2005, to critical acclaim and almost no sales. Yet. He remains confident the project will eventually pay major dividends, as the first in an expanding library of quality comic book work, and, while patience is not a virtue he's renowned for, persistence is.
Andrew Foley: The Man, The Myth, The Guy Who's Not Very Good At Alliteration
Andrew maintains an irregularly updated LiveJournal at http://www.livejournal.com/users/andrew6/ , where he tries to make the lint in his navel as entertaining as possible. He also posts irregularly to the PARTING WAYS message board on the Speakeasy Forum site: http://speakeasycomics.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=18
He and his wife Tiina share a webpage in dire need of updating, AndrewandTiina.com (and yes, there are two "i"s in Tiina.)
The Question isn't Why. It's How. Or Maybe When.
Andrew Foley's goal is simply to continue to produce work in every media that he can get a foot in the door of, in every genre possible.
He loves writing almost as much as he loves his wife, his dog and his two cats. And that's saying something.
